My Internship at GA

It was the year 1996. I was in my 4th year at Architecture school. The course demanded an internship in an Architecture firm for 6 months. While most of my classmates were applying for firms at Chennai,  Bangalore and other big cities, I took the gamble of doing it in my hometown Madurai. My professor Ar.Ranganathan was the one who suggested the office of a then young and upcoming Architect of Madurai- Ar.Ganapathy.  Ar.Ganapathy's office cum home was at SS colony. It was here that I learnt some of the basics of Architecture and design thinking that has helped me evolve in my own architectural journey. I was his first intern and was lucky to spend quality time with him on interactions on topics apart from Architecture like music, cimema and food... This was one of the best periods of my student life. Needless to say, the monthly stipend of Rs. 500 was a big thing in those days 😊

Those were the days of hand drawing.. The office had just bought 2 computers and the transition from hand to computer CAD drafting had just begun...

Years later when I met Ar.Ganapathy at his resort Kadambavanam

The Silent Night

A condensed pocket book of the story of Silent Night...a cute prized possession from my childhood. The sketches in this book is what really impressed me...

Merry Christmas!

A small regret in life...my sporting side

A small regret I have in my life is that I never could fully engage in any sport in my younger days... Both in School and college, I had to shoulder the institution names in Art events.... there were always kids who specilized in sports and hence I never could relish my sporting potential. I was indeed good in athletics, football, cricket, volleyball etc... Occasionally I participated but never seriously enough...
It was only when I had joined for my Masters degree in Anna University that I started freely enjoying my sporting interests. Better late than never! Thats when I discovered my love for Table tennis (which sometimes I play even now).

During my stint at Sobha (my previous company) I never missed an opportunity to participate in corporate Cricket and TT tournaments.

College Cultural Competitions

During my college days , I had played my small part to help our college win the overall championships (or atleast make our presence felt) in cultural festivals held across many other colleges in Tamil Nadu.
Some of them were Meditract  ( Madurai medical college), Razzmatazz  (Thiagaraja college of engineering ), Karmount (Karunya institute of technology), Yufonec (National engineering college) etc. Those were the best days of my life 😀
