It was the year 1996. I was in my 4th year at Architecture school. The course demanded an internship in an Architecture firm for 6 months. While most of my classmates were applying for firms at Chennai, Bangalore and other big cities, I took the gamble of doing it in my hometown Madurai. My professor Ar.Ranganathan was the one who suggested the office of a then young and upcoming Architect of Madurai- Ar.Ganapathy. Ar.Ganapathy's office cum home was at SS colony. It was here that I learnt some of the basics of Architecture and design thinking that has helped me evolve in my own architectural journey. I was his first intern and was lucky to spend quality time with him on interactions on topics apart from Architecture like music, cimema and food... This was one of the best periods of my student life. Needless to say, the monthly stipend of Rs. 500 was a big thing in those days 😊
