The Walk...

Pen on Paper by Ashok
I was inspired to sketch this scene from a snap posted by my blog friend & photographer Indrani on her Frozen Moments! I was sketching with Pen after years and realized that I was a bit rusty...and impatient with my strokes.

I did not know you sketch, Ashok :) I am really really bad with all this. When you say, rusty and impatient, reminds me of the only art class I attended and the trainer said,"A drawing is never complete, you just abandon it".

I think you are being hard on yourself. Pen is a very difficult medium and you did a great job. Way to go.

    1. i agree, Pen is a difficult medium as there is no chance for correction unlike pencil sketching.

  31. I can't comment on the technical aspects since I don't know any more than the art teacher in school taught me. However, as a viewer, I would like to tell you that you did one fabulous job on this one with just a pen. In college, I used to scratch down some random items using my pen on my notebooks while waiting for the next professor to come. But it was nothing like you sketched here. It is very difficult to add the little details in this kind of sketches but I can make the fine difference between one tree form another, one stone to the other. The visibility of elements such as the man's shadow, the returning birds, give this a realistic view. Even before I read your lines beneath the sketch, I felt as if this could very well be a black and white photo. What a camera did, you managed it through a pen. And yeah, the man does look like Mahatma Gandhi, the difference being that this person in your sketch has a lot more hair on his head. :D
