The Little Boy Blue Mug
It was in this vintage mug that my grandma Anne used to give me milk when I was
a kid. She had quite a collection of ceramic wares and I loved this mug for its
cute picture of the little boy blue! During my college days, the mug slipped my
hand and broke down to smithereens..but I didnt giveup. I collected every broken
piece and glued them up and put the mug in my showcase. It has stayed there ever
since as a beautiful piece of nostalgia...
Little boy blue is a famous English nursery rhyme first published in Tommy
Thumb's "Little song book' in the year 1744.

What a wonderful keepsake, a real family treasure. I remember singing little boy blue when I was a child in London. Have a great weekend, Valerie
ReplyDeleteAmazing you glued it back together
ReplyDeleteI love this. I love it far more this way than if it had been a perfect mug with no blemish. This tells such a wonderful story -- not of Little Boy Blue but of Little Boy Ashok who cared enough about the mug to take huge pains to put it together. I remember that rhyme from my childhood, too.
ReplyDeleteMy mother used to say the Little Boy Blue poem to me. I would treasure such a cup. You are lucky to have it.
ReplyDeleteGood save on the mug. I have not heard of the little blue boy poem. Have a great day today.
ReplyDeleteLush.
ReplyDeleteWow... you put it back together and did a swell job out of it. By the way I like that mug and the painting on it.
ReplyDeletenow that is a special thing to have. I have nothing from my childhood except photos. haven't heard that rhyme in so long. What is that Japanese saying when you put something back together... ahh, it will come to me and if it doesn't I'll google it. I like the idea of it.
ReplyDeleteNice poem! little things make us happy during our childhood!
ReplyDeleteLike animate objects, they have their cracks and crumble.... sometimes afresh and yet, mostly, in recess.... nice catch!
