Dubble Yum from NP, was a bubble gum that was popular for a very short period during the 80s. Not sure how many remember this chewing gum that lost out to Bigfun that became a huge hit. Dubble yum inside collectable wrappers had scientific titbit information as compared to Bigfun that had puzzles and cricket stars on its wrappers. Probably the reason why Dubble yum lost out.
Few Collectable wrappers from my collection
Another wrappers which I do not remember from where... |
Great idea! We used to collect cards in tea pa let's when I was a kid in England. Valerie
ReplyDeleteWow, do u still have them vj?
DeleteWow, i never heard of it - Double news for me. Scientific info ...great idea to teach kids along with their gum.
ReplyDeleteYes Sandy, great idea but unfortunately didn't click with kids
DeleteI'll take science over cricket stars any day, but I'm a bit of a geek!
ReplyDeleteI'll take both :)
DeleteNot known to me. It gives you a nostalgic feeling, doesn't it? Nice.
ReplyDeleteLot of nostalgia :)
DeleteI haven't seen that in the UK but I know how much fun people find it to collect things like this as they hold memories - does the wrapper still smell of gum is what I want to know lol!
ReplyDeleteAll these collectables come with lot of childhood memories! After your question, i tried smelling them. Unfortunately, 40 years has taken away any trace of gum smell :)
DeleteI do remember the name, but not the gum. Not a gum chewer, probably why.
ReplyDeleteMost gums had similar names i guess :)
DeleteWe grow up chewing big bubble. I have no idea about this.
ReplyDeleteYes, big bubble was much much later
DeleteWe had Bubble Gum and Hubba Bubba and another one I can't remember. But my favorite gum was NOT bubble it was Clove. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteI think 80s was a big time for bubble gums
DeleteWhat a shame that interesting fact tidbits should lose out in favor of passing facets of the moment
ReplyDeleteYes Cloudia. That's the fact of life :)
