'Saradha Nivas' at Madurai

'Saradha nivas' -  A posh residence that I had designed in the year 2004 for Mr.Jawahar at Pandikoil, Madurai. The client was very particular on following  vastu principles for planning and wanted a modern yet classical design...and also a sloped roof!  The client also had lavish tastes for high-end finishes, teak wood work, Italian marble and furniture, imported fittings, Spanish tiles and many other exquisite materials. The builder was our mutual friend Mr.Balan and it was a memorable construction journey along with Mr.Jawahar and Mr.Balan as we traveled and spent a lot of time together in sourcing materials. It was an interesting experience in my early career.

  10. Very classy. I do like sloping roofs. Apart from looking great, I think they are much more practical in our climate and minimise leakage problems down the line.

  14. This is a grand house. You did a nice job with the architecture. I like the Italian marble and Spanish tiles. And the garden area outside is charming as well.

Very beautiful....like you said very hi end stuff. I love the architecture..courtyard garden..

Whats with the grey exterior..one side wall. Was that done for a purpose?

only one thing that probably is not an architecural issue..I dont like the furniture..esp round bed...would lead to a waste of space according to me..I am used to small rooms..but may be in this big house..probably it fills up some space.
