Sri Bhoga Nandeeshwara temple

At the base of the Nandi Hills near Chikkaballapur, Bengaluru one can find this beautiful temple complex built between the 9th and 10th centuries. The Bhoga Nandeeshwara and Arunachaleshwara are twin temples in the complex built in Nolambavadi Dravidian architecture (Nolamba dynasty). The Gangas and Cholas are credited with the upgrades and additions. Also its said to have undergone upgrades during the Hoysala and Vijayanagara era too.
The temple has amazingly intricate stone sculpture works from different periods of development. A must visit place for architectural history buffs and photography enthusiasts!
The inner temple complex is clean and well maintained while the outer temple campus is poorly maintained. There is a huge lawn where tourists are seen loitering and littering as well. There is a huge scope to upgrade and organize the outer temple premises.
